Retro, woodsy, groovy vibes
“Hey so it’s going to rain Saturday.”
A text you never want to get just days before the wedding. This outdoor, November wedding was scheduled on the same day the weatherman called for heavy rain throughout the day. You can’t control the weather, but you can adjust the wedding plan!
After some trouble loading the trailer, I finally made it to the bride and groom’s home inSulphur, OK. It was beautiful! I just knew that this wedding would be a success no matter what kind of weather came through. I started unloading tables in the misty morning fog.
The original plan for the tables was two long rows leading to the Sweetheart coffee table and peacock chairs. However, the rain and mud caused us to move the reception to a smaller space under a covering. I soon realized there wouldn’t be room for an aisle down the middle of the tables. Instead, I put the tables together in the middle, and put the seating all the way around creating a large, family style dinner table for the wedding guests. The peacock chairs were at the head of the table.
I added dark terracotta table runners, disco balls, and a mix of clear crystal and amber glassware along with tall candlesticks and holders. A bridesmaid brought hurricanes which we filled with water and put in orange roses and floating candles. Finally I added some orange and neutral dried grasses to the table. It all worked together to create the perfect retro, woodsy, vibe!
This bride also asked for lots of rugs! There were rugs for the aisle at the ceremony and rugs for the dance floor. A friend of the bride also scored a huge truckload of pumpkins which were used to line the aisle and around the dance floor. They definitely tied in the bride’s vision of earthy and fairy like! I arranged the pumpkins on the aisle some, and used my round vintage rug as the center of the ceremony area. I felt this area needed more dimension, and I found the perfect stumps to use for this on the couple’s property! I grabbed a couple of groomsmen to move the stumps to the ceremony area and one of the bridesmaids added colored stems to them.
